SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The case of a California woman facing a murder charge after authorities determined her 6-week-old daughter died from burns suffered in a microwave oven is on hold as attorneys await more evidence.
Ka Yang, who has not yet entered a plea, appeared in Sacramento County Superior Court on Wednesday, when another hearing was scheduled for Aug. 26.
She was charged in June with one count of murder with the special circumstance that the death was intentional and involved torture.
Authorities say they found her child dead and covered in burns in the family's Sacramento home March 17.
The 29-year-old Yang bowed her head during her court appearance, covering her face with long dark hair as she cried.
Her attorney, Linda Parisi, has said her client might have psychological problems.
