Authorities have closed a stretch of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway while they look for a man with a gun.

Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley says the man approached a contractor Wednesday at construction site on the highway near Interstate 195, about two miles from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Shipley said the man walked up to a speed camera contractor's Jeep and tapped on the back window with the gun. The contractor starting honking the Jeep's horn.

The suspect then went to the front of the vehicle, hit the windshield with a hammer and yelled incoherently before walking back into a wooded area.

State troopers, Anne Arundel County police and Maryland Transportation Authority police have at least 50 officers searching for the man Wednesday afternoon.
